Every day is Kenya day with this steady daily driver! Hailing from the most renowned coffee region out there—Kirinyaga—you know you’ll be in for a treat. The region’s deep volcanic red soils are rich in organic matter, creating ideal conditions for coffee cultivation at a high altitude of 1,750 to 1,800 masl. This coffee’s profile is a mix of blackberry and lemon zest, sweetened by golden raisins. But there’s also something very floral about it, bright and refreshing.
While there’s limited information available about this coffee’s story, we find that sometimes a good coffee is simply a good coffee, even if there’s less known! Here’s what we do know: it’s processed at the Kaguyu washing station, located near Kerugoya town, on the slopes of Mount Kenya, the country’s second-highest peak. Kaguyu sits at an altitude of 1750-1800 meters above sea level and benefits from two distinct wet seasons, with an annual rainfall exceeding 1500 mm. The region’s deep volcanic red soils are rich in organic matter, creating ideal conditions for coffee cultivation.
The Kaguyu factory is part of the Inoi Farmers’ Cooperative Society (FCS), which consists of 11 factories. Together, they grow coffee across 200 hectares, producing around 250,000 kgs of green coffee annually. The cooperative has 1,000 active members, with each individual farmer cultivating 200-300 coffee trees on average.
