Delicate. Juicy. Tropical.

This delicate-tasting cup surprises and delights with every sip. Autumn-like flavours, such as hazelnut and pear, give way to summery mango and stone fruit notes before finishing with dark chocolate. This lot comes from Kingha Estate in Uganda, right next to the Bwindi national forest after which this coffee is named.

This delicate-tasting cup with its juicy mouthfeel and tropical flavour profile surprises and delights with every sip. First, this bean’s notes of hazelnut and pear will transport you to an autumnal forest that’s ablaze with both colour and flavour. Then, you skip a couple of seasons and dive straight into summer with mango, melon and stone fruit flavours. Finally, this coffee transports you to the warom coziness of winter with a strong dark chocolatey finish. All seasons in one cup of Joe, it’s like magic, ain’t it?

When Canadian-born school teacher Kingsley Griffin went on a gorilla walkabout in the remote and almost impenetrable Bwindi national park of Uganda, he made a life changing decision: he was going to become a coffee farmer.
On a whim, he bought a piece of land and quickly realised that coffee farming and processing wasn’t as easy as he thought it would be. However, he persevered and now produces high-quality crops – that are named after the nearby Bwindi national park – on his own farm, Kingha Estate. Kingha Estate also operates as a washing station for small scale farmers (outgrowers) in the Kanungu District, since there are hardly any companies investing in the value chain or guaranteeing quality. Additionally, he wants to improve their income and make sure that they benefit from their hard work and dedication.
What’s extra special about the Kingha Estate, however, is the fact that they have been applying for grants to build a water-powered solution, which is meant to provide electricity to local schools and a church. Thanks Kingsley, you rock!
