The AeroPress, invented in 2005, has quickly become an industry fav. It even has its own international championship.
This nifty device is a super effective, and charmingly portable, one cup brewer. It’s lightweight, yet highly durable, and will get you up to 250 ml in just a few short minutes.
With the AeroPress, coffee is steeped for 1-4 minutes (depending on grind and preferred strength) and then forced through a filter by pressing the plunger through its tube. You can use AeroPress paper filters or reusable metal filters.
Its creator, engineer Alan Adler of Aerobie Frisbee fame, describes the resulting coffee as an espresso strength concentration, but it’s most frequently used to brew filter style coffee.
We recommend using the AeroPress to experiment with brewing time, water temperature, and different grinds in order to discover how each variable affects the flavour profile of your coffee.
