This is a mixed lot containing only peaberry’s from 4 different washing stations! Normally these coffee’s are classified as too small and aren’t exported, but combining them as a natural processed lot made it so delicious, it had to be shared!
The Akeza has a crazy profile, combining the sweet and funky flavours from the process with bright and fresh notes well known for Burundian coffee.
A very well balanced and processed coffee by the hand of Salum, you might remember his Shembati lot from last year!
This is a special project in Burundi to optimize the potential of the washing stations: normally peaberry’s aren’t considered valuable for export and they end up in cheap local lots. But our trader Nordic Approach cupped the peaberry’s and found them very tasty! Together with Salum they decided to combine lots from 4 washing stations and processed them as a natural coffee, the result is amazing!
We love that we can support Salum and his farmers by buying their ‘low grades’ for a high premium, this is the power of specialty coffee!
