Collaboration

The Gitesi Washing Station is a true family affair, run with precision by Alexis Gahizi and his son Aime. While their Red Bourbon has earned them numerous awards, their real legacy is the Gitesi Cow Project. By providing dairy cows to local smallholders, they’ve created a brilliant circular economy: the cows provide families with milk and extra income, while the manure offers a consistent source of organic fertilizer for the coffee trees.

This holistic approach is why Gitesi tastes so remarkably clean; healthy, naturally nourished soil leads to the more complex sugars and rich, buttery flavours we find in the cup.
